Crime Analysis
The current state of crime, and by extension, the financial hardship within Trinidad and Tobago, can be considered as a reflection of the underhanded activities that occurred as far back as the year 1999, by the renowned "Crime Bosses." Hence to date, the relevant authorities are still unable to declare the origins of what has become the phenomenon within the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago .
Notably, some of the parties involved are the nation’s Banks and other major for-profit entities, for example, supermarkets, nightclubs and casinos, companies, and conglomerates attached to the energy sector and also a few of the nation's ministries.
Simply put, the state and their representatives are of the belief that our shores are more responsible for transshipment of weapons, drugs, and money. But much to their disbelief, this is predominantly conducted via almost all of Trinidad and Tobago import and export chains.
IMPORT- food is consistently our highest bill relative to import trading. Of course, a merchant responsible for the success and continuity of a steady supply of food would not be met with much scrutiny by our customs and excise duties representatives. The quantities attached to their imports in reality, in fact, supersedes the manpower afforded to the institution to allow for thorough security processes to be expedited.
In the very same way, one of the options being used to administer payments for the imports of so-called "food" is through the banks and business accounts. Bear in mind that the supermarket and food merchants are required to make their payments for goods received. What better way to mask these activities?
Apart from food, the nation's energy sectors are also in part responsible for this continued trade. From the pipelines to the shipping of raw materials, in both instances, resources are manipulated to facilitate the trading of contraband, by being camouflaged amongst the extremely huge quantities of the alleged items used by these companies. Of course, this is made easier for them since there exists no degree of an embargo, considering that the energy sectors are in part considered state enterprises in many instances.
Pharmacies and their products in the past were somewhat or a rare commodity in Trinidad and Tobago. However within recent time, for every neighborhood, there exist at least five (5) pharmacies within 30-40 feet of each other. Research has also shown that the drug trade is also being facilitated in many countries around the world through pharmaceuticals. Of course, in reference to small countries as our own, scarcity and demand allows for this trade to go unnoticed and alarm free.
In reality, there's a simple pattern that exists if one pays particular attention. Whenever any enterprise or organization becomes too popular, question its mere existence. The sale of liquid detergents and cleaning items has also become a run of the mill enterprise. Parlors, corner stores, and even private homes have been facilitating the sale of these items in large quantities within recent time. Intelligence has proven this through thorough investigation. Therefore, to get to the heart of our problems as a nation, we need to start reflecting on what exists at the top of our food chains. Our underdeveloped areas aren’t facilitating crime, a particular race or religious group isn’t responsible either. Rather our leaders are to be investigated and this can only be done if we start examining the picture from the inside out.
